What is the purpose of Scissor Lifts?

Scissor lifts, also known as aerial work platforms (AWP), are moveable platforms that are designed to move personnel and equipment up and down securely. You can also find scissor lift technology in tables that ensure heavy equipment is lifted from the floor in a safe manner. We even offer a U-shaped scissor lift table that essentially becomes a workbench on three sides once elevated. The practical uses of scissor lift technology can be applied across industrial and retail premises, and the Abis range offers even more variety for your business’s specific needs.

Scissor lifts operate using a criss-cross mechanism, hence the name. The mechanism powers the lift to rise without the need for any human intervention beyond pressing a button and allowing the machine to do its work. Different lifts have different weight capacities, with some designed with personnel in mind and others designed primarily for equipment elevation. Our scissor lifts are either operated by electric lifters or you can utilise hand winch stackers instead – the choice is yours.

Abis also have a range of mobile scissor lift tables that are a fantastic addition to any warehouse or retail space for transportation or restocking purposes.

Where can this product be used?

Scissor lift tables can be used across all industrial settings and beyond. In factories, they’re brilliant for raising heavy equipment and packaging so that it can used without risking injury to workers. They can also elevate workers to allow them to perform routine maintenance without using ladders. Scissor lifts can also be used in external environments and are commonly used within the construction industry instead of scaffolding. A ramp for trolley access can also be purchased as an additional accessory, allowing employees to wheel goods on to the platform.

Beyond the industrial applications of scissor lifts, they are also found in retail environments and in warehouses of all varieties. They serve to ensure the safety of workers and allow for tasks to be undertaken in a rapid way that is simple to instigate and operate.
